This really pisses me the fuck off.

The Iraqi interim government has warned the United States and international nuclear inspectors that nearly 380 tons of powerful conventional explosives - used to demolish buildings, make missile warheads and detonate nuclear weapons - are missing from one of Iraq's most sensitive former military installations.
The huge facility, called Al Qaqaa, was supposed to be under American military control but is now a no man's land, still picked over by looters as recently as Sunday. United Nations weapons inspectors had monitored the explosives for many years, but White House and Pentagon officials acknowledge that the explosives vanished sometime after the American-led invasion last year.
The White House said President Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, was informed within the past month that the explosives were missing. It is unclear whether President Bush was informed. American officials have never publicly announced the disappearance, but beginning last week they answered questions about it posed by The New York Times and the CBS News program "60 Minutes."
Administration officials said Sunday that the Iraq Survey Group, the C.I.A. task force that searched for unconventional weapons, has been ordered to investigate the disappearance of the explosives.

There are no words. Seriously. How do you LOSE weapons. OH wait. . . don't answer that. Just think about it.

Sorry, saw a promo and got annoyed.

UPDATE: you can vote to make sure she dies. Please do.

the big two-three

Speaking of growing up, my twenty-third birthday is today. I'm oddly excited. I'm not sure why - - - usually people hate getting older. Must be the happy pills. Or maybe a new year older means a new year of experiences, good and bad. I'm hoping for lots of good and minimal bad. Meaning no [more] breakups, Kerry becomes president and I hit the lottery so I can retire before I even start a career and rainbows sprout up every day everywhere for no reason.

Yeah, that'd be sweet. Yeah I know, some of that isn't reality. A guy can dream though, right?

the 'nawww...really?' headline of the decade

Yeah, so I got my daily morning Intelligencer Journal (Lancaster's center-rightish 'Democrat' morning paper. . . the evening way-rightish 'Republican' paper is called The New Era) and I was delighted, but not surprised, by the headline. In big black letters it says:

No banned weapons in Iraq

Some of us have been saying this since 2002. It really is the "No shit" headline of the year.

So . . . while North Korea may have an arsenal, Pakistani nuclear scientists proliferated all over the place, some of South Africa's stocks of chemical weapons are still MIA and Iran is enriching uranium for God-knows-what, we invaded a country that yes- - - had an awful human being unworthy of life as a leader (and let me just say, watching him, he really is pathetic) but no- - - did not have any banned weapons (that we sold them anyway in the 1980s. Duh.).

Something does not compute.

I expect the argument that we were exporting democracy and liberating people, but as I recall reading yesterday, there's this government-sponsored genocide type thing going on in Sudan that probably could use some of that liberation right about now. Not that I'm advocating that (although Sudan is oil-rich). Actually Sudan probably should be partitioned into two seperate countries since the Muslim north seems to want to keep the Chrisitian south dirt poor, starving, and desperate. I'm just saying is all. Or the mess that is going on in the Niger Delta. I may have been on hiatus for four months, but I sure as hell was paying attention.

So while we invaded Iraq and continue to get tore-the-f*ck-up-there, our attentions were distracted. I almost don't want to know how this ends.

Theres some candidates over there on the left hand side of the screen that I like. I'm doing this rather half-assed, I think, but if you've got some spare pennies, toss them at Lois, Cheryl, and Ben. I'm sure they'd appreciate it, since all three are running in conservative Central PA as Democrats.
PP & L still sucks

Well, the meter wasn't broken after all, just the way it communicated with the utility. Next time I get an electric bill for only 7 bucks, I am going to demand they come out and see what is up.

oy. 63 bucks at a time when I did not have 63 bucks. Such is life when you're growing up I guess. Eh?

I'm hoping for some really good luck really soon.

PP & L sucks

PP&L is the local electric utility here in Millersville. For several months, actually nearly most of this year, the meter out back was broken and only measured the basic connection of the electricity. Normally our bill is 50 bucks a month. Instead, for most of the year, it's been 7. We found this odd. They did not.

They discovered the meter was broken last week. Now we owe them over 300 bucks. (There's 5 of us living here, including me).

Do we have to pay this? It is their fault the meter is broken. I don't think we should. .. but I'd like some advice on this so I can advise my roommates on what to do.
